Financial Assistance Program

Dear DCE Parents,

Families in Coppell and throughout our nation often experience financial difficulties. Each year St. Ann’s Parish, Valley Ranch Baptist Church, the City of Coppell and Coppell Lion’s Club provide assistance to families in need. If your family is experiencing difficult times, and you would like to receive assistance, please contact the DCE school nurse Jeannie Tierney or school counselor Mindy Lindquist as soon as possible.

Thanksgiving assistance registration ends September 24th but other community help is available throughout the year. Thank you!!

Book Fair Volunteers Needed Now until Book Fair!

Book Fair is quickly approaching and we have plenty of volunteer opportunities through September 28th!

Help promote a love of reading and raise money for our school at the DCE Book Fair.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR THE KIDS!

  • Set up and take down: Scholastic drops off the books and picks them up, but the PTO makes it all happen inside the library. Book Fair Set Up will be September 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Book Fair take down will be September 28th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Decorating: if you know how to use tape and glue, you can help! Decorating will take place from Monday, September 17th.
  • Previews: The younger kids need help writing/completing their Wish Lists. Preview Day will be Monday, September 24th for Kinder, First and Second Grades.
  • Donuts with Dad: Helpers are needed to help set out muffins, coffee, and juice. Helpers are also needed to run registers, distribute posters, and help shoppers find the items on their Wish Lists. Donuts with Dad will take place on Wednesday, September 26th, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. Volunteers will be needed from 6:50 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

CISD offers a salad bar in the lunchroom three days per week.

Volunteers needed to guide our Kinder and 1st grade students as they make their salad bar selections for one hour on Tuesdays and also to help restock for 2nd-5th grades Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Books
Library Volunteer Meetings

The DCE library needs volunteers to help with library duties which include shelving books, helping check books in/out and helping students locate books.

Volunteers also pull books for class projects, assist in covering new books as they come in, and deliver books to teachers as requested. Our kids LOVE to read and we process hundreds of books in and out of the library every single week! The library is the hub of the school and this is a great way to get to know your student’s class — you are free to volunteer during your student’s class library time or any other times that fit your schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering at the DCE library and didn’t get a chance to attend the first meeting, please join the volunteer meeting on September 7 at 9am in the library. Contact Kendra Kilpatrick for questions. (kennie72480@yahoo.com)

Front Office Volunteers are Needed for 2018-19

We are looking for front office coverage in two shifts from 9-11 am and 11-1 pm EVERY SCHOOL DAY.

The commitment is for whatever day you sign up for every other week throughout the school year. Duties include greeting visitors, answering phones and light clerical assistance.

We are also looking for volunteers interested in helping with laminating for the teachers.

We appreciate all of the countless hours you dedicated to DCE through the years, all of your volunteering, and all of your contributions to fundraisers to help our school.

SPECIAL THANKS to those parents who were part of the PTO BOARD during their tenure at DCE including:

Kitty Surve in her roles as VP/fundraising Chair these past two years, and Write-A-Check Coordinator prior to that, leading the fundraising efforts at DCE.

Padma Amin as Home Room Parent Coordinator and Secretary, helping to coordinate Special Friends Day and Holiday Cookies.

Rachel Durbin as Social Committee Coordinator these past two years, helping put together some great school socials, as well as designing and making the troll headbands we all loved so much.

Tanya Martinez and Yadira Rivera as Field Day Coordinators and Social Committee Coordinators, helping plan fun school socials these past years and this year’s fantastic Field Day.
