NOMINATE A DCE Staff Member to be a Red & Black Superstar!

Red & Black Super Star is a program started by the Coppell Education Foundation to recognize elementary and middle school students and CISD employees.

NEXT SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8th at 5PM!

  • Elementary school parents can submit nominations near the end of each 9-week grading period for any CISD staff member on their elementary school campus they feel deserves recognition.
  • This could be for going above and beyond for a student or co-worker, ability to inspire, dedication to their profession and/or commitment to mentoring students or colleagues.
  • At the end of each grading period, at every elementary school, one to two CISD employees will be selected from all the nominations to receive a Red & Black Super Star award.
  • Please click here to submit your nomination by the December 8th (5PM) deadline.

December’s Prize is a Surprise Treat for the GRADE with the most Box Tops – DEADLINE is Dec 15!

We will be announcing soon the winners for the November Box Top Challenge.

Look for products with Box Tops like the following:
Chex, Betty Crocker, Gold Medal, Avery Labels, Bisquick, Reynolds, Ziploc, and Pillsbury.

Simply send Box Tops to school with your student in a Ziploc bag with their name and class section and they will turn it into the collection box in the office.

Trailblazers will journey into “space” where they will meet “Orb” a giant size Earth!! This is an experiential program that allows learners to experience cycles, systems, and relationships between the earth and moon.

A BIG DCE Thank You goes out to Rachel Durbin, Christina Hamm, Kristina Lowe, and Claudia Aguirre who organized our Fall Social at ALTITUDE.

Thank you also to the many volunteers who assisted them in passing out bands, collecting money and waivers at the door, and passing out pizza and water.

We had a great turnout and the students really had a GREAT time!

DCE Celebrated Red Ribbon Week in October

CISD iLEAD

iLead is a six-session leadership training opportunity led by the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees and district leaders. The program is designed to help parents and community members gain insight into the operations of Coppell ISD, learn more about district service opportunities and build capacity for future Board and committee leadership. Attending at least four sessions is required for graduation. The cost of iLead is $40, which helps defray district expenses such as t-shirts, training materials, food, awards, etc.

CISD Calendar

At its recent meeting, the District Education Improvement Council (DEIC) designated a calendar subcommittee to make recommendations for the district’s next two-year calendar (2018-2019 and 2019-2020.)

The calendar subcommittee is set to meet twice before presenting options to the DEIC.

The DEIC then will send two calendar options, which will be posted on the Coppell ISD website, to the Board of Trustees for consideration.

Don’t forget we welcome your input on the district’s two-year calendar by emailing input@coppellisd.com by Nov. 28.

The DCE “Write A Check” Campaign has concluded with a GRAND TOTAL of $11,980 earned for Denton Creek Elementary!

The Raffle winners will be announced soon both at the school and through the DCE PTO newsletter. Winners will receive a gift card during the next week.

We will also be planning a surprise treat for all the kiddos for having exceeded the $10,000 mark – Great job!!

Traditionally PTO uses fundraising funds each year for:

• $2,500 for Field Trip buses for all grades (K-5)
• $7,500 in Educational Programs for all students (K-5)
• $4,000 for Classroom set-up expenses for all classrooms (K-5)
• Approximately $20,000 in Fall Gifts to DCE (These were the items requested by the school and teachers for purchase and utilization by students during this School Year)
• Field day is totally funded by PTO
• PTO funds events like Special Friends Day, the Fall and Spring Socials, Donuts with Dads, Muffins with Mom and so many such wonderful events throughout the school year.
• Last year the funds raised were used to build our awesome STEAM LAB and the year before for the OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER.

Support our Children: Build their Future!!!

WAC is one of the biggest fundraisers organized by the DCE PTO. Every year parents of DCE raise over $50,000 for the school and a significant amount is collected during the Write-a-Check campaign.

This fundraiser is important to our school because 100% of the WAC donations raised from DCE families is used for the benefit of the students throughout the school year.

What are we raising WAC funds for this year?

The funds raised this year during the WAC campaign will be used for:

Educational Programs offered throughout the school year to all the learners

1) Rhythm Path for Drumming ((http://rhythmpath.com)
2) Spark point Innovations Orbit Earth (http://sparkpointinnovations.com/orbit-earth-expo/texas-orbit-earth-expo-program)
3) Visit by either an author and storyteller at the DCE library
4) High Touch High Tech – hands on science program for every classroom. (https://sciencemadefun.net)

Field Trip buses for all the grades for their various outdoor trips to places like museums, arboretum, ranch, etc.

A contribution of $40 or more per student can help us raise enough funds to make a difference.
